McGlynn Canoe Company
McGlynn Canoe Company builds 15' canvas on cedar canoes using traditional methods, materials and tools. Each boat is hand-built one at a time in a small shop where customers can make decisions on materials and participate in the building process.
The warm wood and clean lines of a cedar canvas canoe bring the owner closer to nature, and when well-loved, will provide a connection to the outdoors that will last generations.
What is a cedar canvas canoe?
Each canoe is first ribbed and planked using Atlantic white cedar, steam and clinched brass tacks. Then, it is varnished and covered in canvas impregnated with filler. The final step is a coat of paint. The result is a glue and epoxy-free body with a durable waterproof skin, making your canoe both functional and beautiful.

The boats built in this fashion are the same that were used by the trappers and wilderness guides from the late 1800s and early 1900s. This building method is still used today by traditionalists, both professionally and personally.
